Supporting and Equipping the Next Generation of Churches and Church Leaders

to see the one Church in Dallas perpetually constituted in the form of faithful contextualized worshiping communities

Events

we believe that gathering in community to learn from one another and grow together is integral to the health of the people of God
We need one another. Going it alone denies what it means to be human and the very nature of the triune godhead.

Detrick Bonhoeffer reminds us “the Christian, too, belongs not in the seclusion of a cloistered life but in the thick of foes. There is his commission, his work. ‘The Kingdom is to be in the midst of your enemies. And he who will not suffer this does not want to be of the kingdom of Christ; he wants to be among friends, to sit among roses and lilies, not with the bad people but the devout people.’” (Life Together

Each of our events and programs is designed with this sort of community in mind. The goal is not consensus or conformity, but the pursuit of truth, righteousness, and justice in love.

leveraging an unusual coalition of churches from different denominations, as well as non-ecclesial institutions to promote the thriving we all desperately seek

Churches

we believe that supporting the work of new churches is integral to the mission of God
There are so many challenges and barriers to starting a new church, yet we know that Christ is building his church.

Francis Schaeffer once said, “Each generation of the church in each setting has the responsibility of communicating the gospel in understandable terms, considering the language and thought-forms of that setting.” (Escape from Reason

Thus, as we seek to supporting the growth and development of new worshipping communities by caring for the planters, equipping and training their leaders, providing space for them to grow.

Partners

we believe that building unusual coalitions across various industries, demographics, and spheres is integral to the kingdom of God
The challenges the church faces today are not new, and they are not necessarily complicated, but they are growing in complexity as our cities are growing in complexity.

Scott Page reminds us “On the complex tasks we now carry out…, we need people who think in different ways. And not in arbitrarily diverse ways. Effective diverse teams are built with forethought. Not all teams of rivals will succeed. Not all multitudes possess wisdom. To realize the benefits of diversity, we need logic and theory to identify the types of diversity that improve outcomes and to understand the conditions under which they do so.” (The Diversity Bonus)

Part of the mission at Central Commons is inviting a diverse set of partners to join us in our mission. Some of these partners are deeply aligned, others join us a co-belligerents fighting one specific issue in the world that we deem important.
